Television actress Rupali Ganguly has been making headlines for the past few days after her stepdaughter Esha Verma levelled serious allegations against her. The latter accused the Anupamaa actress of physical violence and of having an affair with her father Ashwin Verma, while he was still married to her mother. In response to these serious accusations, Rupali filed a defamation case against Esha, seeking compensation of Rs 50 crore.
Amid the controversy and legal proceedings, actress and Bigg Boss 2 fame Payal Rohatgi has slammed the TV actress for seeking a hefty amount from a 26-year-old girl. Taking to Instagram stories, Payal shared a note and criticised Rupali for dating Ashwin while knowing that he was married to Esha’s mother. “Whatever your truth, Rupali, but you did marry a guy who was married when you met him. It’s called karma when you do what you do to the earlier wife. The daughter of the previous wife will have her narrative,” she wrote.
Furthermore, the Lock Upp fame questioned whether Rupali was dealing with financial problems for asking such a huge amount as compensation. “Why did you demand so much money as defamation? Are you broke? Do you all even understand what Rs 50 crore working in serials is?” the note concluded.
Meanwhile, Anupamaa’s producer Ranjan Shahi came in support of the actress. He shared a picture with Rupali on Instagram and wrote that she has been an inspiration for the team and constantly inspires them with her hard work, dedication and humility. He further lauded the actress for facing the challenges head-on, with a smile on her face.
Talking to NDTV recently, Rupali’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan revealed why the actress claimed Rs 50 crore as compensation from her stepdaughter. She explained that Esha’s charges had a negative impact on both her career and personal life. The amount encompasses the emotional turmoil and reputational harm the actress has endured due to the allegations.
