Amitabh Bachchan shared how hard he learned the technique to climb coconut trees as his character in Saudagar required him to collect coconut water.
The latest season of Kaun Banega Crorepati has kept people glued to their television screens. The show has retained its popularity and is giving a chance to contestants from across the country to earn a substantial sum of money. But what has also captivated the audience is host Amitabh Bachchan’s honest conversations with the candidates. He is frequently seen sharing humorous anecdotes from his past or taking an interest in participants’ lives. Recently he narrated how he learned to climb a coconut tree for his character in the film Saudagar.
In the recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan welcomed a contestant named Dhanraj Dhirubhai Modi to the hot seat. Dhanraj hails from Somnath, Gujarat, and is studying for the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) exams. He also shared that he takes care of his father’s coconut farm. This led to Amitabh sharing how he learned to climb coconut trees as his character in Saudagar required him to collect coconut water.
He stated, “Shuruwat mein humne ek film ki thi Saudagar usmein hum nariyal paani nikalte the, rass nikalte the..mujhe bola gaya ke aapko chadhna padega, humne bola bhaiya hum kaise chadhenge bahot mushkil hai. Unhone kahan koi nahi sikha denge aapko, Woh aise leather bandhte hain peeth par aur woh aage se gol jaata hai… woh aage push karte jaate hain aur aage chadhte jaate hain.. bahut kathin tha… sabse khatarnak baat ye hai ke woh ped mein joh kaata nikla hua hota hai woh lag jaata hai agar aap jaldi niche aajaye toh. (I began by working on a film called Saudagar, in which I had to extract coconut water. They told me I’d have to climb the tree, and I responded, ‘How will I do that? It’s quite difficult. They told me they’d teach me. They fastened a leather strap around my waist that loops forward, allowing me to push myself up as I climbed. It was incredibly tough. The most dangerous element was the tree’s stinging thorns, which could hurt you if you rushed back down).”
During the episode, Dhanraj mentioned that he considers Kaun Banega Crorepati to be his family, and that he even invited the KBC team to his wedding. However, Amitabh Bachchan admitted that they did not inform him about the wedding, else he would have congratulated him.
