A convoy carrying Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev and other diplomats was hit by an explosion, the Russian embassy in Pakistan said in a statement.
The envoy was part of a motorcade travelling with a delegation that included ambassadors from several other countries. Earlier in the day, the group had participated in a tourism forum organised by the Trade and Industry Chamber of Islamabad.
“On the way from Mingora to the hotel, the escort vehicle hit a landmine. Several police officers were injured. Members of the diplomatic corps were not harmed,” the statement said.
The convoy, which included diplomats from Russia, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, and other nations, was visiting Malam Jabba when the attack occurred. Four soldiers were injured in the explosion.
