Paris has lost its title as the world’s top romantic destination to Maui, Hawaii, according to a new survey
Paris, long hailed as the “City of Light” and “City of Love,” has been unseated as the world’s top romantic destination, according to a recent survey of 2,000 Americans. Maui, Hawaii has now been voted as the preferred choice of US couples for a romantic getaway, according to a survey conducted by Talker Research.
Many respondents still appreciate Paris for its romance (33%), but scenic destinations like Italy’s Rome (29%) and Santorini (11%) are also popular, the New York Post (NYP) reported. Others prefer beachy spots such as Cancun (19%), Costa Rica (13%), and the British Virgin Islands (12%) for a romantic getaway.
World’s most romantic destinations
The survey, which aimed to identify the world’s most romantic destinations, revealed that 69% of respondents believe smaller and lesser-known locations are far more romantic than larger, more popular ones. As many as 45% of participants claimed that these hidden gems offer a better atmosphere for intimacy and connection. The study also found that 69% of respondents felt more romantic while on vacation compared to their daily lives.
Most couples who traveled together displayed affection, with 55% going on romantic walks on the beach, 54% watching the sunset together, and 53% holding hands. The results indicated that three-quarters or 76% of participants considered vacationing together as a significant step in their relationship. Meanwhile, 72% agreed that spontaneous couple vacations are sexy.
Dana Studbaker, vice president of marketing of consumer brands at Funjet Vacations, said, “Vacationing together isn’t just about discovering new places; it’s about igniting, deepening, or rekindling the romance, escaping the ordinary and celebrating the love that binds you.” “The beauty of all-inclusive resorts is that they offer a perfect stress-free escape, removing the hassle of planning and allowing you to focus entirely on each other,” she was quoted as saying by NYP.
