WWE legend John Cena has recently spoken about his bond with the American wrestling company. In a recent interview, the 16-time world champion spilled the beans on his post-retirement plans.
It has already been confirmed that Cena will draw curtains on his in-ring career in 2025 following a tour consisting of around “36 scheduled dates.” He is also expected to feature at the next Royal Rumble event as well as WrestleMania 41.
According to The Cenation Leader, he has plans to become an ambassador of WWE following his retirement tour and in this regard, he has already signed a “contract extension” with the company.
“I have such a trustworthy relationship with them for over two decades. I am a champion of the brand. I love the company. It is my home, they are my family. Even after 2025, I’ve already signed an extension to remain a member of the WWE family for the near, mid, and long-term future,” John Cena revealed on the Club Shay Shay podcast on August 20, as quoted by Wrestleview.
Despite his debut with Ultimate Pro Wrestling, John Cena is mainly known for his time at WWE, The majority of the superstars of his generation have tried their luck in other companies like All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Impact Wrestling (formerly TNA), at least once in their careers.
Cena, however, has been a loyal member of the WWE family since signing with them in 2001. “I don’t think there will be a beat of my heart where WWE doesn’t come out of,” the potential Hall of Famer added during the podcast interview.
His long-time rival The Miz recently admitted that he had “mixed emotions” when he first heard about Cena’s impending WWE retirement. “I’m proud that I’ve been able to share the ring with him and learn from him. I’m still using what I’ve learned from him in and out of the ring. I’m also sad. Being in the ring with him is unlike anything else. He’s the greatest of all time,” The Miz said, as reported by SI.com.
The duo first faced off against each other at WrestleMania 27 in 2011. In the same year, John Cena paired up with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to fight against The Miz and R-Truth in the Survivor series. After the last WrestleMania, Cena appeared at an episode of Monday Night Raw where he teamed up with his former opponents and defeated The Judgement Day featuring Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh.
