Janmashtami is one of the most cherished Hindu festivals celebrated across the country. This auspicious occasion marks the birth of Lord Krishna, who is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. Janmashtami falls every year on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada. This year, the festival falls on August 26. The auspicious timing to observe the rituals will begin on August 25 at 9:20 pm and will continue until 10:34 pm on August 26. Devotees during that day observe fast and hold special pujas to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna. Worshipping Laddu Gopal also increases happiness and prosperity in the houses. Couples who wish to have a son can worship Laddu Gopal during this day with great devotion. Devotees are also asked to offer Lord Krishna’s favourite bhog in order to please him. Know from the Deoghar astrologer what is the favourite bhog of Laddu Gopal.

Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal says that Laddu Gopal is offered with a variety of foods that are considered his favourite. Some of these are:

    1. Makhan/ Butter: Makhan is Lord Krishna’s most favourite food. He used to steal Makhan and eat when he was a child. He is also known by the name Makhan Chor.

    2. Mishri: Mishri or rock sugar is also another favourite food of Lord Krishna as it is mixed with butter as a sweet and simple offering.

    3. Ladoos: Besan, boondi or coconut Ladoo is another favourite food of Lord Krishna, which should be offered during Janmashtami. Ladoos are also offered in many ceremonies and festivals.

    4. Kheer: It is another favourite food of the Lord which should be offered during the puja. It is made with milk and sugar.

    5. Fruits: Seasonal fruits like bananas, apples, and pomegranates are often offered to Lord Krishna.

Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal also claimed that, along with these, Tulsi leaves must also be added to the offering as Tulsi is considered to be a form of Goddess Lakshmi. Offering without Tulsi marks it incomplete.
