Current world champion Neeraj Chopra will be aiming for a victory as he is all set to be in action in the Diamond League final this weekend. Neeraj’s javelin throwing event in the final of the Diamond League is scheduled to take place on Sunday (IST) in Brussels. The star Indian javelin thrower will head into the competition having won it in 2022 and registering a second-place finish last year. The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist collected 14 points across two meets in the Diamond League 2024 javelin throw events this season. Overall, he finished fourth. He had claimed the second spot in both the Doha leg and Lausanne. The Paris Olympics silver medalist had skipped the last series meet in Zurich last week. The 26-year-old had finished just two points behind Czechia’s Jakub Vadlech.
Apart from Neeraj Chopra, India’s steeplechaser Avinash Sable will take part in the Diamond League season final, scheduled to start on Friday. This marks the national record-holding 3000m steeplechaser’s maiden appearance in the Diamond League season final. The Diamond League 2024 final will be played across two days and will feature some top athletes who are set to compete in 32 disciplines.
