BJP Tamil Nadu MLA Vanathi Srinivasan clarified that the information being spread on social media that she forced the hotelier to apologize to the Finance Minister is totally wrong
BJP Tamil Nadu MLA Vanathi Srinivasan on Friday clarified that she did not force the hotelier to apologize to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after a video of Sri Annapoorna restaurant owner Srinivasan apologizing to the FM went viral on social media. The video had surfaced on the internet after the hotelier had publicly expressed concern about the complexities of GST on food items at a government event.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, Vanathi clarified that the information being spread on social media that she forced the hotelier to apologize to the Finance Minister is totally wrong. She said the hotelier called her cell phone on Thursday morning and expressed regret over his comments and wanted to apologize to the FM, therefor she arranged the meeting.
BJP had shared the video of Sri Annapoorna restaurant owner Srinivasan apologizing to FM Nirmala Sitharaman during a meeting of business owners with the Finance Minister in Coimbatore district. Soon after, a row erupted over the video with Congress and DMK slamming the saffron party for the “arrogance and outright disrespect” of the hotelier.
Amid the row, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai apologized for sharing the private conversation video.
