US and European officials claim Iran has reportedly sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia amid Moscow’s brutal war in Ukraine. A US official told The Wall Street Journal that the Iranian ballistic missiles “have finally been delivered” to Russia. A Reuters report previously cited two European “intelligence officials” saying the Iranian missiles in question could be the Fath-360 and Ababil. Both Fath-360 and Ababil missiles are classified as close-range ballistic missiles (CRBMs) with a range of less than 300 km. Meanwhile, the US described Iran’s missile supply as a “dramatic escalation” in Tehran’s support for Moscow’s war against Ukraine. Kyiv has also warned that if Iran provides ballistic missiles to Russia, “it will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations”.
