Kartik Aaryan played the lead role in the 2022 psychological thriller Freddy opposite Alaya F.

Kartik Aaryan is celebrating two years of his 2022 OTT release Freddy, where he played a brutally disturbed dentist. In a self-reflective Instagram post, Karthik Aaryan penned down his thoughts about the film and the character which he still feels “electrifying as ever.” Further, he also opened up on his physical transformation when he gained 14 kgs for the character, going through a tremendous change as Dr Freddy. Along with the post, a carousel of pictures shows Kartik Aaryan’s various snaps from the film and a few others from behind the scenes.
Beginning with his memorable dialogue “Ek joke sunau – I Still Love You,” Kartik wrote, “Two years of #Freddy and the joy of living this ‘twisted’ lover boy still feels as electrifying as ever! Transforming into Freddy was no small feat- gaining 14 kgs to embody his vanilla yet hauntingly complex life was just the beginning.”
He further shared how the character took him on a rollercoaster of emotions and madness, demanding that Freddy’s story continue.
“The search and quest to explore more of Freddy’s world is far from over. Thank you for showering so much love on your Dr. Freddy,” he continued, leaving a major hint towards the film’s potential sequel. Concluding his note with a lot of gratitude and love for his fans, Kartik added, “This journey has been unforgettable, and who knows… the best might still be yet to come!”
After reading the post, while fans couldn’t stop but shower him with praises and lauded his performance in the film, many eagle-eyed followers took quick note of the actor teasing about a sequel.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Freddy is considered a turning point for Kartik Aaryan by many, where he took on an unconventional role and portrayed a dark character, contrary to his regular roles. Also featuring actress Alaya F, the film tells the story of a dentist who falls in love with a woman in an abusive marriage and goes to great lengths to win her love. Things turn dark after his hidden secrets set him off on a different path.
The film came out digitally in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar. On the work front, Kartik is basking in the success of his latest release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which also stars actors like Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Rajpal Yadav among others.
