Asha Parekh, a beloved figure in the Indian film industry, recently attended Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and revealed unheard anecdotes from the shooting days with her favourite co-star, Shammi Kapoor.

The singing reality show is one of the most popular shows on national television, keeping audiences glued to their TV screens. In the latest episode, the presence of veteran actress Aksha Parekh added a new dimension. Her untold stories from her career, alongside the participants’ stint on the show, made the episode unmissable.
In one segment of the show, a contestant named Maharshi Sanat Pandya paid tribute to the golden era of Bollywood by singing the evergreen songs Teri Aankhon Ke Siva and Tumne Mujhe Dekha Hokar Meherban from Asha Parekh’s movies Chirag and Teesri Manzil, respectively. The timeless classics were not only loved by the audiences but also completely mesmerised the guest of the evening, Asha Parekh.
Soon, Asha went on a nostalgic trip down memory lane from the time when she was part of one after the other blockbuster hits. The legendary actress was also quizzed about her favourite co-star. To this, she began sharing fond memories of working with Shammi Kapoor and even talked about their bond. Asha said, “It is difficult to pick a favourite co-star, but working with Shammi Ji was always a unique experience. He was more than just a colleague; he was like family to me, as I fondly called him ‘Chachu.’ Naturally, our rapport made working together much easier,” as reported by Etimes.
She further highlighted her self-choreographed routines with her Teesri Manzil’s co-star and late actor Shammi. She added, “His (Shammi Kapoor’s) style was so distinctive, and the best part was that when a song was being picturised, it felt as if music coursed through his entire body. We didn’t have a dance master for our sequences at all; we choreographed everything ourselves. He would say, ‘You do this,’ and I would respond, ‘I’ll do that,’ and the steps would just flow seamlessly. His energy was infectious, and that made our performances truly memorable.”
Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh worked on multiple films together, including Teesri Manzil, Batwara, Dil Deke Dekho, Pagla Kahin Ka, Jawan Mohabbat and Sar Ankhon Par. Their on-screen presence has etched a special place in the hearts of their millions of fans.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa premieres on Zee TV on Saturday and Sunday nights at 9 PM.
