Maharashtra New Chief Minister and Government Formation LIVE Updates: The suspense over the Maharashtra Chief Minister post continues days after the Mahayuti alliance, combining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ekhnath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s National Congress Party (NCP) — secured a landslide victory.
Despite the win, there is yet no clarity on who will become the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. In order to take a decision on the matter with the agreement of all its allies, the BJP-led NDA will meet in New Delhi on Thursday, November 27.
The BJP has maintained silence on the announcement of the next Chief Minister, however, the party is reportedly facing pressure from its MLAs, and leaders that the Chief Minister should be from the BJP. Many have suggested the name of Devendra Fadnavis, the current Deputy Chief Minister, for the top post.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde on Wednesday dropped a big hint about the decision and said he would accept the BJP’s decision regarding the CM position.
