Delhi Police detained the BJP leaders protesting over the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy near Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including its Delhi unit chief Virendraa Sachdeva, staged a protest near the residence of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over the ‘Sheesh Mahal‘ controversy.
Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, and former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot, who quit the party recently and joined the BJP, were also present in the protest.
BJP workers were seen climbing the police barricade holding placards in their hands. The police detained the protesting leaders and workers.
‘BJP Will Form Govt In Delhi’: Kailash Gahlot
Ex-AAP and now a BJP leader Kailash Gahlot said that the people of Delhi are facing troubles due to pending work by the Delhi government and exuded confidence that the BJP will form government in 2025 Assembly Elections.
“We have come here to protest over the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ issue. When I wrote a letter to Arvind Kejriwal, I wrote clearly that a controversy has been created over Sheesh Mahal is truly unfortunate. This is an example of compromise with the core principles of AAP…” he said.

“I think this time BJP will form the Government in Delhi this time. People are troubled because work was not done in Delhi – sewers are overflowing, drinking water is not being supplied, and roads are damaged. I am confident that the people of Delhi will make BJP win this time,” he added.
Delhi is slated to go to Assembly Elections early next year. The AAP received a major jolt just months before the polls with the exit of its top leader Kailash Gahlot who expressed discontent over the non-fulfillment of promises and AAP’s deflection from its values, in his resignation letter to Kejriwal.
What Is The ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Controversy?
The ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy pertains to the new Delhi CM residence and its grandeur built under Kejriwal’s chief ministership. The BJP termed the building a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and accused Kejriwal of departing from his promises made in the initial days of his political career that he would not take a government bungalow.
