Divyanka Traipathi’s new web series The Magic Of Shiri has created significant buzz with its promising cast and unique premise. The 10-episode slice-of-life drama series tells the story of Shiri Shah, a housewife who goes on to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a magician. Featuring Divyanka, Jaaved Jaaferi and Namit Das in key roles, the show is now streaming on JioCinema Premium. On the release day, the makers unveiled a new trailer that offers a sneak peek into its world.
The trailer is packed with emotional drama, adventure and magic. Set in the early 2000s, it shows Divyanka as Shiri, a happy-go-lucky housewife who amuses her kids with self-practiced magic tricks. This is until when she gets the chance to learn magic and perform it before an audience. This is where Salim Jaadugar, Javed Jaaferi’s character comes into the picture. Like a veteran master, he says, “Magic sikhaya ni jata, asli jaadu jaadugar ke andar hota hai.”(Real magic cannot be taught, it is within the magician.)
However, her journey towards realising her dream comes with social challenges that are similar to the experiences of all working women. How the character overcomes these and lives her ambition is what the show would entail.
Divyanka is seen delivering some powerful lines in the new trailer. In a particular scene, she says, “Haan ye circus hai par main yaha ki joker nahi hun, main ring master hun yaha ki.”(Yes it is a circus, but I am not a joker here, but a ringmaster.)
During a previous interview, Divyanka noted that it was a rewarding experience for her to play this character. Sharing her thoughts, she said, “It has reminded me of the indomitable spirit we all possess, the courage to follow our dreams, and the transformative power of embracing our true selves. Through The Magic of Shiri, we aim to inspire and uplift viewers, showcasing that even amid the chaos, there is always room for magic and wonder,” in a statement.
Apart from the lead cast, the upcoming show also features Neelu Kohli, Parmeet Sethi and Darshan Jariwala in key roles. If you looking for a light-hearted, heartwarming tale filled with magic, this show directed by Birsa Dasgupta can be streamed on JioCiema Premium.
