Simba (played by Ranveer Singh) is a beloved character in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, and he lives up to expectations in Singham Again.
Rohit Shetty is currently basking in the success of the third instalment of his cop universe franchise, Singham. Featuring an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor, Singham Again has almost touched the Rs 200-crore mark in nine days.
The movie is a perfect blend of action, drama, comedy, and mythology.
Besides the enthralling Ramayana references and Ajay Devgn’s power-packed action sequences, audiences are loving Ranveer’s comic relief scenes, filled with witty references to ‘Khiladi’ Kumar, Sunny Deol, and his and Deepika’s newborn daughter, Dua.
Baby Dua is given a short and sweet dedication in the ending scene of the action drama.
Simba, an orphan, is shown expressing grief over his lack of family. In response, Bajirao Singham’s wife, Avni (played by Kareena), reassures him that he is not alone, as all the cops in the team and their families are Simba’s family too.
Then comes a heartwarming moment: Simba smiles and says, “Ab toh parivar bada ho raha hai” (now the family’s getting bigger), while looking at Deepika as the camera zooms in on her.
This was a cute reference to them expecting their first child during the shoot.
Dua was born this year on September 8 at a hospital in Mumbai.
Besides this heartwarming moment, the quirky Simba delivers several humorous scenes as well.
His asking Singham, “Khiladi kaha hai?” (Where is Khiladi?), referring to ‘Khiladi’ Kumar, Akshay, is a fun scene.
Among his other chucklesome moments is when Singham and Avni discuss how their son has grown up and they have aged.
Simba intervenes with a witty one-liner that has the audience laughing: “Abhi toh seniors hi gadar macha rahe hai” (right now, it’s the seniors causing all the ruckus), referring to veteran actor Sunny Deol’s massive box office success with Gadar 2 (2023).
Simba also re-delivers his epic Sooryavanshi dialogue in Singham Again: “Akkhi public ko pata hai kon kon ane wala hai, tereko nehi malum?” (everyone knows who all are coming, don’t you?).
He says this to the villain, Danger Lanka (played by Arjun Kapoor), during the climactic showdown, as all the cops assemble to take him down.
Ranveer Singh won hearts with the amount of screen time he managed to get among several other Bollywood big shots.
From his smashing entry, surrounded by fireworks and gulal (colorful powder), to his antics with Danger Lanka, and his amusing Marathi dialogues, he shines in this multi-starrer movie.
Simba’s impeccable comic timing and ability to infuse humour into serious situations have led many to hail him as the highlight of the movie. The ‘not-so-serious’ cop brought a refreshing balance to the intense scenes of Singham Again.
