Shaina NC, who was the BJP spokesperson, joined Shiv Sena on Monday after the Eknath Shinde-led party fielded her as a candidate from Mumbadevi seat.
Shiv Sena candidate Shaina NC, who recently switched from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde fielded her from Congress stronghold Mumbadevi seat in Mumbai, offered prayers at the Mumbadevi Temple on Tuesday ahead of filing her nomination upcoming for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections.
The 51-year-old is expected to file her nomination at noon today in the last day for filing nominations. “I hope Mumbaikars will give the Mahayuti government a chance again so that we can work at the same pace. We want to work for our women with the same motivation we receive from Maa. CM’s Ladki Bahini Yojana reached every household and I am confident that all those women will support a woman candidate,” Shaina told news agency ANI.
The new Shiv Sena candidate also described herself as “Mumbai ki beti” and said she had worked for 20 years for Mumbaikars and Maharashtra. “As our Prime Minister said, we are all Pradhan Sevaks and we are ready to work in Mumbai. Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander ant me lekin Jhaansi ki Rani to banna hi hai (The one who wins is the king in the end but I want to become Jhansi ki Rani),” she said.
Shaina NC switches from BJP to Shiv Sena

Shaina was previously a spokesperson of the BJP. The Mumbadevi constituency is a part of the Mumbai Lok Sabha seat and has been represented by Congress since 2009. Shaina will face incumbent Congress MLA Amin Patel.
Shaina thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mahayuti leadership and expressed her commitment to the people of Mumbai, saying she views her candidature as an opportunity to serve Mumbaikars and become their voice. Earlier, there were reports that the BJP could field Shaina NC from the Worli constituency, but Shiv Sena fielded Milind Deora from the seat.
