The former Pakistan cricketer, Basit Ali was not pleased with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the white-ball Head Coach, Gary Kirsten decided to step down from his role abruptly.

The former cricketer, on his YouTube channel expressed his frustrations with the national cricket board and also vented out his anger with the declining state of the sport within the country.

Pakistan’s cricket is deteriorating, and I don’t want it to decline. In the coming days, it will get worse, “ he shared as quoted by Times of India.

A major point for his frustration is how foreign coaches are being hired for the role without any prior experience in the lower levels of cricket within the country. He even took the examples of former Australian cricketers like Rodney Marsh and Rahul Dravid who had stints in the junior levels before making their way up to more senior roles.

“He will say,’My academy is in Cape Town,’ and then join some franchise. Why give opportunities to people like this who cannot spend time in the country?”

“They have made a joke out of Pakistan. The establishment is involved in it up to 90 per cent,” he ranted.

Pakistan cricket has come under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. From internal politics to ego clashes between players, the side has come under massive scrutiny as they have declined in performances even from star players.

During the recent Test series against England at home, after losing the first game, the PCB decided to take extreme measures by dropping star players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah from the squad.

However, the decision proved to be the right call as Pakistan managed to come back and win the final two Tests to take the series victory to give the side something to build on.

Ali called out the PCB for handing out opportunities to those who aren’t willing to spend time in the country. Kirsten’s tenure only lasted six months as there were tensions reported between the PCB and also the coaching staff.

Following the Test series victory, the PCB also made the announcement that Muhammad Rizwan would captain the white-ball side and their first assignment would be the ODI series against Australia where they would hope to impress.
