The Shiv Sena faction released a list of 65 candidates. It has renominated most of its MLAs who stayed with party chief and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray after the split in 2022.
Yuva Sena leader and Thackeray’s cousin Varun Sardesai will contest from Mumbai’s Bandra (East). In Thane’s Kopri-Panchpakhadi seat, where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is in the fray, the party fielded Kedar Dighe. He is the nephew of late Sena leader Anand Dighe, who is considered to be Shinde’s political mentor.
But, during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seat-sharing press conference later, party leader Sanjay Raut said there is a mistake in the candidates’ list, which will soon be rectified. He did not, however, explain the error.
