‘Narrative Created Out Of Lies’: Sean Diddy Combs’ Mom Defends Him Amid Sexual Abuse

Sean Diddy Combs’ mother, Janice Smalls Combs, has defended her son as he faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and numerous other serious accusations of sexual assault. “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” Janice stated through her lawyer in a message shared on Sunday. “To bear witness to what feels like a public lynching of my son before he’s had the chance to prove his innocence is a pain beyond words. Like anyone else, my son deserves his day in court to share his side and clear his name,” she added.

In her message, Janice also commented on the hotel surveillance footage on Diddy hitting his then-girlfriend, Cassie, in 2016. “I am not here to claim my son is perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in the past, just like we all have,” she acknowledged in her statement, which Diddy’s representative confirmed to Page Six.

“My son may not have been completely honest about certain matters, such as denying any violent behaviour toward an ex-girlfriend, even when hotel surveillance proves otherwise. Sometimes, the lines between truth and lies become so blurred that admitting to part of the story can be frightening, especially when that truth is outside the norm or too complex to believe,” she explained.

Janice also shared her perspective on why she believes Diddy, 54, chose to settle with Cassie in November 2023 rather than fight the lawsuit in court. “This is why I think my son’s legal team decided to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of taking it to trial, and the government then used that against him as if it were an admission of guilt,” she said.

Cassie, 38, had reportedly filed a lawsuit against her former partner Diddy Combs, last November and accused him of rape, sex trafficking and repeated physical abuse.

Janice also defended her son in light of the other sexual assault allegations. “Not being fully transparent about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the horrific allegations or the serious charges he’s now facing,” she continued.

Janice said that many people who were wrongfully convicted and later freed had their liberty taken not because they were guilty, but because they didn’t fit society’s mould of a ‘good person.’ “History shows us that individuals can be unfairly judged due to past mistakes,” she added.
