Late actor Vikas Sethi’s wife, Jhanvi Sethi, opened up about her husband’s financial and emotional struggles.

Vikas Sethi died on September 8 at the age of 48. The actor, known for his roles in popular 2000s serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Uttaran and Sasural Simar Ka, died in his sleep due to a massive cardiac arrest. His sudden demise left his family and friends in deep shock. Vikas’ wife, Jhanvi Sethi, who is still grieving her husband’s untimely death, recently spoke at length about his troubled past and shared how he would get upset when someone talked about it.

In an interview with ETimes, Vikas’ wife mentioned that they had gone to her hometown, Nashik, to attend a family function. Usually, her husband would be excited about their trips, but their last trip felt off to her. “He was restless all day. I don’t know if he sensed it… he passed away the next morning. I still can’t believe he is not here with us today. I keep expecting him to walk through the door,” said Jhanvi.

When asked about their financial struggles, the late actor’s wife disclosed that they had a rough couple of years as Vikas wasn’t getting proper work. “It’s been tough for a long time. Vikas hadn’t been getting work and people often reminded him of how his career had changed,” she added.

Furthermore, Jhanvi opened up about her husband’s struggle with substance abuse and alcoholism and said, “Others would cruelly bring up his past struggles with substance abuse and alcoholism. He did battle substance abuse and was an alcoholic years ago, but he overcame those problems. If you keep bringing up a person’s worst moments, it takes a toll on their mental health. Vikas was sensitive and introverted. Those hurtful comments broke him. We had been going through financial and emotional difficulties for the past year.”

She continued, “And just when things seemed to be improving, he was taken away from us. He had signed Oops 2 with Deepak Tijori just eight days before he passed.” Despite struggling to get over the grief of losing her husband, the doting wife of Vikas shared that she knows that she has to move on for her three-year-old twin sons. “I’m struggling, and I was recently hospitalised after my BP dropped. But I have to stay strong for our twins. I’ve told them that their papa has gone out to get them toys and gifts. I just want people to remember him for the talented actor he was, not for his troubled past,” she stated.

Apart from his television roles, Vikas Sethi is remembered for his brief role as Robbie, acting as Poo aka Kareena Kapoor’s love interest in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
