Ace Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has quashed the reports claiming the worsening of his knee injury. Taking to social media on Wednesday evening, the right-arm quick confirmed that he has been trying his best to recover on time. He further asked the fans to refrain from fake news, given the fact that neither he nor the BCCI confirmed that his participation in the upcoming Australia tour is in jeopardy.
“Why these type of baseless rumors? I’m working hard and trying my level best to recover. Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement,” Shami posted on X.

Earlier, the Times of India had reported that Shami’s knee injury had flared up which would likely delay his comeback.
“Shami had resumed bowling and he was looking on track to make a comeback to competitive cricket soon. But this knee injury has flared up recently. BCCI’s medical team is assessing the injury but it may require quite a bit of time,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
“It’s a jolt for the NCA medical team. They have been working on him for over a year. They have one of the best workload management systems in place. The medical team is trying its best to put him back in the park soon,” the source added.
Shami likely to return for New Zealand Tests
Another report carried by The Times of India has states that Shami is eyeing the New Zealand series to mark his comeback. The ace Indian pacer has been sweating it out at the BCCI’s newly inaugurated Centre of Excellence (CoE).
“Shami’s rehab is very much on track. New Zealand Tests are being kept as a realistic target. He is under watchful eyes of BCCI specialists and making very good progress,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.
Shami has been sidelined since November last year with an ankle injury, for which he went under the knife in the United Kingdom in February.
