This aloo chaap stall in Jharkhand’s Mahagama sells over 400 plates within three hours every day. The unique flavour from its chutneys keeps customers coming back the next day
A local aloo chaap shop in the heart of Mahagama, a small town in Godda district of Jharkhand, has gained popularity for its delicious chaaps. Selling over 400 plates in just three hours each day, this eatery stands out thanks to its special chutneys.
One of the chutneys is made with garlic and red chilli, and another from mustard and poppy seeds. These tasty chutneys add a unique flavour that keeps customers coming back for more, making it a beloved spot for locals and visitors.
The stall is open from 4pm to 7pm. Speaking to News18, stall owner Uttam Kumar said he has been operating his stall near the District Top Library in Mahagama for the past eight years.
“My daily income from this shop ranges from Rs 600 to Rs 800. I make aloo chaap using pea flour and prepare the potato filling with homemade spices, particularly green chillies, garlic, and ginger. The unique flavour comes from its special chutney,” Kumar said.
“The first chutney is made from mustard, almonds, and poppy seeds, while the second combines red chillies, garlic, and ginger. Both chutneys greatly enhance the flavour of the aloo chaap, creating a truly unique experience,” Kumar added.
A customer named Sorabh, who came to try the chaap, said, “I eat at least three to four aloo chaaps every day, which cost Rs 5 each. It’s so delicious that one piece is never enough.”
