Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Qassem announced that his group was in a “new phase” in its battle against Israel. “We have entered a new phase, namely an open reckoning” with Israel, Naim Qassem was quoted by news agency AFP. “Threats will not stop us… We are ready to face all military possibilities,” he added.Meanwhile, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby warned that a regional military escalation is not in Israel’s “best interest.” The remarks come amid heightening cross-border tensions between Israel and Lebanon which have led to fears of an all-out war.”We don’t believe that escalating this military conflict is in their best interest,” Kirby said on ABC’s “This Week.”
