Ukraine’s incursion into Kursk in early August caught Russia on the backfoot, even Kyiv’s allies are said to have been taken by surprise. However, Kremlin had been warned about a possible incursion into the area months in advance, as per a report by The Guardian.A cache of documents seized from abandoned Russian positions in Kursk show that Moscow had been making plans to prevent it for several months. The disclosure makes the disarray among Russian forces after Ukraine’s attack in early August all the more embarrassing.The documents were seized by Ukrainian special operations team from the Russian territory, The Guardian wrote. The Ukrainian team said they had taken Russian interior ministry, FSB and army documents from buildings in the Kursk region.
