Vishwakarma Puja, also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti, is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Vishwakarma.
Vishwakarma Puja is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Vishwakarma. The day is also known as Vishwakarma Jayanti. Lord Vishwakarma, honoured as the divine architect and engineer in the Rig Veda, is worshipped as the creator of the universe. Some scriptures define Lord Vishwakarma as the son of Lord Brahma, while some consider him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Vishwakarma Jayanti is observed on the last day of the Bengali month of Bhadra, also known as Bhadra Sankranti or Kanya Sankranti. This year it will be observed on September 16.

Vishwakarma Puja History
Lord Vishwakarma is known for creating the city of Dvaraka for Lord Krishna and Indraprastha for the Pandavas. He created powerful weapons like Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra, Lord Shiva’s Trishul and Lord Kartikeya’s spear. He is also believed to have authored the Sthapatya Veda, which focuses on mechanics and architecture.
Vishwakarma is the patron deity of craftsmen, with their tools often venerated during Vishwakarma Puja.
Vishwakarma Puja Significance
Vishwakarma Jayanti marks an important day for all the factory workers, architects, labourers, craftsmen and mechanics.
On this day, devotees offer prayers to Lord Vishwakarma and also worship all machinery, including cycles, cars, machines and computers. Across the country, people conduct pujas in their workplaces and industrial areas, and many choose to refrain from using electronic devices and tools as a mark of respect.
