‘No One Is Trying To Assassinate Biden Or Harris’: Musk Deletes Controversial Post About

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has deleted a controversial post after facing backlash for questioning why there were “no” attempts to kill US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

His comments came in the wake of a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Florida. Earlier, a user on X asked Musk why some wanted to kill the Republican presidential candidate. In response, Musk wrote, “And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”

On Sunday, gunshots were fired outside his golf course in Florida on Sunday afternoon, two months after the assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania’s Boulder. A 58-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting.

‘I am safe and well’

Trump, hours after surviving another apparent assassination attempt on Sunday in Florida, said he was safe and well. A website fundraising message by the former US President read, “Fear not! I am safe and well, and no one was hurt. Thank God!” Another message from him read, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but rumours start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL” (sic).

“Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER. I will always love you for supporting me,” he added.

Authorities have arrested a 58-year-old suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh in connection with the shooting. Routh was hiding in bushes and when Secret  Service agents opened fire, he reportedly bolted out of the shrubbery and escaped in a black car. Authorities tracked down the car with the help of witnesses. A high-powered AK-47-style rifle with a scope and a GoPro camera was recovered at the scene.

Ukraine Conflict

“We have somebody in custody right now that is a potential suspect,” news agency AFP quoted Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. According to a New York Times report, Routh is a former construction worker from North Carolina Greensboro. He had no formal military background but expressed his wish to participate in armed conflict in the past, particularly in Ukraine after Russia’s 2022 invasion.

On Monday, Kyiv denied links to a man accused of trying to assassinate Trump, after it emerged that the suspect was a supporter of Ukraine who had said he wanted to recruit foreign volunteers to fight there. Ukrainian officials said they had nothing to do with him, and accused Moscow of seizing on the link for propaganda purposes. The Kremlin, for its part, implied there was a link between the assassination attempt and U.S. support for Kyiv, saying “playing with fire has its consequences.”
