Anant Chaturdashi will be observed on September 17.
A Kashi astrologer said that tying Anant Sutra around the wrist will bring good fortune and devotees will receive Lord Vishnu’s blessings.
Anant Chaturdashi is a Hindu festival celebrated on the 14th day of the lunar month of Bhadrapada, typically falling in September. This festival is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and marks the conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. On this day, devotees perform special prayers and rituals, which often include the immersion of Ganesh idols in water, symbolising the return of the deity to his celestial abode.
Devotees observe Anant Chaturdashi by fasting and offering special prayers to seek Lord Vishnu’s blessings for prosperity and well-being. A key ritual involves tying a sacred thread around the wrist, which is believed to bring good fortune and protection.
Kashi astrologer Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay said that tying this special thread around the wrist will bring good fortune and devotees will receive Lord Vishnu’s blessings.
This year, Anant Chaturdashi will be celebrated on September 17, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Dev Shilpi Lord Vishwakarma. On Anant Chaturdashi, devotees of Lord Vishnu follow specific rituals to honour the deity. Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay shared several important steps devotees should observe during the festival.
One essential ritual involves placing the fourteen Granthi Sutras in front of Lord Vishnu and performing the worship with full devotion. The Anant Sutra should be energised with Vishnu mantras during the ceremony. Upon completing the rituals, men tie the fourteen-knot Anant Sutra on their right arm, while women tie it on their left arm. This practice is believed to invoke Lord Vishnu’s blessings, bringing prosperity and happiness.
Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay also offers additional guidance for devotees to follow on Anant Chaturdashi:
– Refrain from consuming salt on this auspicious day.
– Begin the day with a morning bath and take a vow to fast, meditating on Lord Vishnu seated in Ksheer Sagar.
– During the fast, consume only salt-free fruits.
By adhering to these rituals, devotees seek Lord Vishnu’s blessings for prosperity, happiness and glory.
