The Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi met with the nation’s Paralympians, who brought glory to the nation with a best-ever medal tally of 29 medals at the recently concluded quadrennial sporting extravaganza in Paris.
Athletes from the Indian contingent met the nation’s premier in a felicitation ceremony at the national capital on Thursday following their return to the homeland from the record-breaking campaign in the French capital city.

The PM also went on to entertain the athlete’s request for an autograph on the sleeve of his throwing arm and shared a few words in jest to the delight of the gathering.
The Indian contingent returned with a best-ever tally at the end of the spectacle as the representatives of the tricolour clinched seven gold, nine silver and thirteen bronze medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
India managed to finish 18th in the overall medal tally at the Paralympics 2024, breaking into the top 20 for the very first time in history.
The athletics contingent ruled the roost at the quadrennial as they picked up as many as 17 medals in track and field, while five para-badminton players also medalled. Four para shooters, two para archers and a solitary judoka also finished on the podium of their events to return to the homeland with a medal from the Parisian event.
China finished atop the medal tally with a whooping 220 medals, of which 94 were gold, 76 silver and 50 bronze. Great Britain came in second with 124 medals, followed by the USA, who tallied 105 medals at the multi-sport event held in the European city.
