‘Deep Bengaluru’ trend with X user Nikhil Velpanur’s post.
Social media users witnessed a shift from the familiar ‘Peak Bengaluru’ to the intriguing ‘Deep Bengaluru’ trend.
Bengaluru is known for its traffic jams and high cost of living but is also famous for capturing quirky moments online. A trend called ‘Peak Bengaluru’ shows people juggling office work with shopping. However, a new trend ‘Deep Bengaluru’ has also been making rounds on social media.
So, what sparked this new trend? It all began with a single post. On September 2, Nikhil Velpanur took a stand at Naru Noodle Bar, a popular ramen spot, against harsh criticism. While defending his beloved restaurant, Nikhil introduced himself as a “deep bangalorean” who had enjoyed more than 1,000 bowls of ramen.
“Seeing a lot of hate towards Naru Noodle Bar and arbitrary ratings pulled out of their hats with no credible analysis or justification. I’ve eaten more than 1,000 bowls of ramen and am obsessed with Naru Noodle Bar before it even had a physical location in the courtyard,” Nikhil wrote in his post.

Here’s why they may be missing the noodles for the proverbial broth. The term “deep bangalorean” gained traction among users.
One of the users wrote, “How deeply deep Bangalorean am I guys? Is there a test.”
Another pointed out, “Deep Bangalorean, do you live under Bellandur lake?”
This transformation came following a petition from a user who urged the account to adopt the new name. The post read, “Petition for @peakbengaluru to rebrand to deep Bengaluru,” and soon after the account accepted the request.
The trend also gained popularity when Shantanu Goel posted a question, “How deep is your connection to Bangalore?” For many, ‘Deep Bengaluru’ became a way to demonstrate their bond with the city. Others used it to highlight Bengaluru’s ongoing infrastructure problems.
One user recalled, “I lived in one of the first-ever houses in Kodigehalli. The lone house was visible from the train tracks. If we stood on the terrace, the Chinnaswamy floodlights were visible. On the weekends, we could see the Air Force training and diving with their parachutes.”
Another reminisced, “I know Bangalore where Koramangala was not part of the city.”
One user quipped, “Extremely deep. I’m tweeting from a pothole actually,’ while another cheekily remarked, “I put the lore in Bangalore.
Shantanu’s post has gained over 2.5 lakh views so far.
