Wang Hongquanxing, popularly known as ‘China’s Kim Kardashian’, recently hogged the limelight after being banned from social media for flaunting his lavish lifestyle. The influencer enjoyed massive popularity on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok with a followers list of 4.4 million people. He had previously bragged about his opulent lifestyle, designer clothes, and extravagant jewellery, leading him to face severe consequences.
Wang is known for his posts with a lifestyle that only a few can imagine. As reported by Forbes, the influencer, in his previous posts, claimed that he owned seven luxury properties, adding that he never left home with less than $1.4 million worth of clothing and jewellery. Besides, the Chinese influencer has the security of 8 people who are always around him ensuring his protection. Wang rose to popularity after he posted a video featuring him on his knees in front of his mother, asking for money. His subservient behaviour despite the expensive clothing and the lavish lifestyle struck a chord with the audience’s heart. As far as the source of his wealth is concerned, it comes from his family’s coal mining business which later transformed into a jadeite jewelry business. Besides, he has his own business ventures.
Earlier this year, he inaugurated a 1,000-square-meter boutique called Quranus, located in the heart of Shanghai’s luxury district. The inauguration event was also attended by Christy Chung and Wu Chun attended the event. Currently, he keeps his fans engaged with glimpses of his daily life which includes his frequent visits to jewellery dealers and haute couture brands for custom-made pieces.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Wang was questioned about his choice to become an influencer despite already being rich. In response, he did not shy away from openly expressing that he desires attention. Meanwhile, the crackdown on the influencer’s social media handles comes given the Chinese government’s initiative to take action against public displays of wealth and lavish lifestyles.
