WWE NXT action made a scintillating return to television on Tuesday, August 27. The weekly show aired live from the company’s Performance Centre in Orlando, Florida.
Packing the latest updates for the brand’s upcoming premium live event No Mercy 2024, NXT kicked off with a women’s tag-team clash between Fatal Influence and Meta-Four. Later, in men’s team action, the D’Angelo Family squared off against the No Quarter Catch Crew. The night’s final fight witnessed Je’Von Evans and Joe Coffey compete in a one-on-one match-up.
The show eventually went off the air after a promo from Joe Hendry on his upcoming NXT Championship match against Ethan Page at No Mercy.
Wes Lee and Zach Wentz meet inside the ring
The segment began with Wes Lee claiming himself to be a big star, bigger than Zach Wentz. Lee then said Wentz was jealous of everything he had achieved. Wentz reacted by saying that he was proud of Lee’s accomplishments more than anyone else but the superstar had messed up. Lee fired right back by promising to show Wentz that the two superstars were on different levels at No Mercy.
Joe Hendry conducts his second-ever singing performance in front of NXT fans
The final segment begins with Joe Hendry thanking the NXT universe for spending the evening with him. He then started singing a special ‘song’ about Ethan Page. In his lyrics, Hendry talked about Ethan Page’s action figures, dethroning him as the NXT Champion and Page working out in a chicken costume. Soon Page cut Hendy off by saying it was best to leave him out of NXT and away from the men’s championship.
Special Guest referee for Joe Hendry vs Ethan Page match at No Mercy
NXT boss Ava interrupted Ethan Page in the show’s final segment while asking the NXT Champion to be grateful for Hendry writing a song about him. She then revealed that Page and Hendry’s match at No Mercy will feature a special guest referee. Just then Trick Williams’ music hit as he jogged inside the ring. Meanwhile, Page tried to blindside Hendry but got countered into a Standing Ovation manoeuvre. Hendry then pinned the champ as Williams completed the three-count. The referee and the challenger celebrated as the show went off-air.
