A unique trend has emerged among couples in Agra, Uttar Pradesh with hospitals receiving advance bookings for deliveries on Janmashtami. Many couples scheduled their babies’ births at specific times, such as 4:00 PM and 12:00 AM.

The couples wanted to time their baby’s birth with this year’s Rohini Nakshatra, the star under which Lord Krishna was born. As a result, numerous couples opted for cesarean deliveries during this auspicious nakshatra and coordinated these times with their doctors.

Each year, the number of couples wanting their child to be born on Janmashtami continues to rise. This year, too, pregnant women were admitted to Agra hospitals for cesarean deliveries since Sunday night.

Many women specifically requested their doctors to time the cesarean for the auspicious muhurta. Over 250 children were expected to be born in Agra this Janmashtami. Hospitals made special preparations and newborns were even being dressed in costumes of Lord Krishna and Radha.

Speaking to News18, Gynecologist Dr. Narendra Malhotra said, “This year, the number of deliveries before noon has been lower because many couples have chosen to schedule their deliveries after 4:00 PM during the auspicious nakshatra. Some have even made bookings for around midnight.”

Dr. Rachna Gupta of Lady Lyall Hospital said, “Eighteen children have been born since morning, and some pregnant women had specifically expressed the desire for normal delivery on this day.”
