The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has released photos of its two fidayeens — Mahal Baloch and Rizwan Baloch — on its official channel, Hakkal, who took part in its recent operation Herof (Black Storm) by its elite group, the Majeed Brigade. Pakistan has called it a “terrorist attack”.
“Fidayee Mahal Baloch and Fidayee Rizwan Baloch detonated their VBIEDs at the gates of Pakistani military camp in Bela, commencing Majeeb Brigade’s operation Herof,” BLA said in its statement, indicating a change in its approach by deployment of a woman fidayeen.
The operation was launched on Monday, the death anniversary of Akbar Bugti, former CM of Balochistan, who was killed during General Musharraf’s regime in 2006. As part of this, they have started to attack and take control of major camps of the Pakistan Army. Other units of the BLA have taken charge of highways and roads across Balochistan to support the Majeed Brigade.
The BLA on Monday claimed responsibility for two attacks that killed at least 31 people. Twenty-three people were fatally shot after being identified and taken from buses, vehicles and trucks in Musakhail, a district in Balochistan province, senior police official Ayub Achakzai said. The attackers burned at least 10 vehicles before fleeing. In a separate attack, gunmen killed at least nine people, including four police officers and five passers-by, in Qalat district also in Balochistan, authorities said.
WHAT ISPR SAID
Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on the night of August 25/ 26, 2024, terrorists attempted to conduct numerous heinous activities in Balochistan. “On behest of inimical and hostile forces, these cowardly acts of terrorism were aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment and development of Balochistan by targeting mainly the innocent civilians, especially in Musakhail, Kalat and Labela Districts. Resultantly, numerous innocent civilians embraced shahadat.”
In Musakhail district, terrorists stopped a bus in general area Rara Sham and maliciously targeted innocent citizens, working in Balochistan to earn their livelihood, the ISPR said.
Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies immediately responded and successfully thwarted the evil design of terrorists and sent twenty-one terrorists to hell in ensuing clearance operations, ensuring security and protection of local populace, the ISPR said.
“However, during the conduct of operations, 14 brave sons of soil, including 10 Security Forces soldiers and four personnel of law enforcement agencies, having fought gallantly, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat. Sanitization operations are being conducted and the instigators, perpetrators, facilitators and abettors of these heinous and cowardly acts, targeting innocent civilians, will be brought to justice. Security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
