Bhaker, who scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to claim two medals at a single edition of the Olympics at the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024, shared pictures alongside London Olympics bronze medallist Mary Kom from a recent meetup.

Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker shared a picture with legendary boxer MC Mary Kom on Thursday following a meet-up between the Olympians.

Bhaker, who scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to claim two medals at a single edition of the Olympics at the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024, shared pictures alongside London Olympics bronze medallist Mary Kom.

The 22-year-old shared images of the meeting between the medallists on her social media handle with a caption that read, “It was great catching up with you didi @mcmary.kom , and talking about the Olympics and more.”

“Thank you for your wishes and blessings and let’s plan a workout session soon,” the post added.

Bhaker opened India’s medal tally at the quadrennial event in France with her bronze medal-winning performance in the Women’s individual 10m Air Pistol event and doubled down on her tally with yet another bronze in the 10m Mixed Air Pistol event alongside fellow shooter Sarabjot Singh.

She nearly claimed a third medal in the French Capital city but missed out on a podium finish in the 25m Air Pistol event as she came in fourth.

Mary Kom, who is one of the biggest names in the annals of Indian sporting folklore, picked up the bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012 in the women’s flyweight boxing event in a commanding fashion to cement her legacy.

The Indian contingent returned from the recently concluded sporting extravaganza with six medals, one silver and five bronze. The shooting unit was responsible for three bronze medals with Swapnil Kusale adding a bronze in the Men’s 50m 3 position Air Rifle event to the exploits of Bhaker and Sarabjot. The Indian men’s hockey team and wrestler Aman Sherawat claimed a bronze each, while star javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra brought the lone silver from the Parisian event.
