Eyes on the skies for rare lunar phenomenonpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time
Hello and welcome to our coverage of the rare celestial sight, a blue supermoon.
We’re following the progress of the Moon as it is seen in night skies around the world.
It’s appearing larger in the sky, a supermoon, as it is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, and it’s designated a blue moon as it is the third full moon in a season with four full moons.
Here in the UK the moon has appeared red rather than blue after smoke from wildfires in North America travelled across the Atlantic, giving skies a smoky tinge.
You can enjoy the view from live streams around the world by pressing watch live button at the top of the page.
