Addressing the athletes on a video call, the nation’s premier heaped praise on the unit with words of encouragement on Monday.
“You are all going to Paris as flagbearers of India,” the PM stated.
“This journey is going to be an extremely important journey of your life, your career,” the 73-year-old premier said laying emphasis on the magnitude of the sporting extravaganza.
The Prime Minister also expressed how proud the nation is of the efforts of the athletes to represent the country at the grandest of sporting spectacles.
“This journey is equally important to the country as well. The country’s pride is linked to your presence in Paris,” the Premier stated.
He also echoed the sentiments of the nation as she conveyed the blessing and wishes of the national populace ahead of the showpiece.
“140 crore countrymen are blessing you,” he added.
