Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra stamped the subcontinental supremacy in javelin throw at the recent Paris Olympics by claiming the top-two spots in the final.
Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem are basking in the glory of their Paris Olympics triumph. The two javelin stars produced superb show at the recent Summer Games with India’s Neeraj claiming silver while Nadeem taking the gold.
During a chat with JioCinema, the duo was asked which actors would they like to cast if a biopic was made on their life.
“He (Nadeem) has a good height. So I think Amitabh Bachchan would be a good fit,” said Neeraj when asked whom he would like to portray Nadeem in his biopic.
And when the same question was asked to Nadeem about Neeraj, after thinking for a while, he responded, “Shah Rukh Khan.”
Neeraj entered the Paris Games as the reigning champion having created history in Tokyo when he won India’s first ever Olympics gold medal in a track and field event.
However, it was Nadeem who took the gold this time around with an Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters in his second attempt. On the other hand, Neeraj threw 89.45m – his season best throw – to clinch silver.
“Medal aaya hai, tiranga haath mein hai, is cheez ki khushi hai. Bahut kaam karna baki hai. Kaafi time se injury chal rahi hai, competition utne nahi khel paa raha jitne khelne chahiye aur un cheezo par kaam nahi kar paa raha jo mistake hai. Agar kaam hoga cheezon par to bahut acha hoga (I am happy to have won the medal but there’s plenty of work still to be done. I have been carrying an injury for a long time which limited the number of competitions I should have participated in and worked on my mistakes.),” Neeraj had said.
India finished their Paris Olympics campaign with six medals including three from shooting (all bronze) and one each from men’s hockey (bronze), wrestling (bronze) and javelin throw (silver).
