WWE SmackDown Results: Roman Reigns Goes After The Bloodline, Cody Rhodes Reveals Title

Following a blockbuster show at WWE SummerSlam 2024, the weekly episode of SmackDown moved to Oklahoma on August 9. The show was telecast live from the BOK Center in Tulsa and featured four official matches. Three of these clashes were qualifying matches for the United States and Tag Team Championships. In women’s action, the fans saw Alba Fyre square off against Jade Cargill. Apart from the official fights, the crowd was treated to some electric promos from stars like Cody Rhodes, LA Knight and Solo Sikoa. The latest episode of SmackDown also witnessed the former Tribal Chief Roman Reigns go after Sikoa and The Bloodline before the show went off air.

We hear from Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes started the segment by discussing the upcoming pay-per-view at WWE Bash Berlin. As he spoke about his next opponent for the event, Solo Sikoa’s music hit and he made his way to ringside with Tama Tonga. Seeing the Bloodline trying to attack Rhodes, Kevin Owens jumped in with a chair to help the champion defend himself. The Bloodline, next, retreated to the back as Rhodes continued his promo. The American Nightmare revealed he wanted to face Owens at WWE Bash At Berlin for the title. KO refused the shot initially but brand manager Nick Aldis came out and said the match was on the cards.

LA Knight addresses fans

New WWE United States Champion LA Knight started his promo by talking about how he carved his way to Logan Paul’s title. Santos Escobar’s music hit after which the wrestler walked down to the ringside. Escobar then said that Knight wasn’t a good fit for the title and he deserved it more. The champ added that Escobar deserved everything bad coming to him and Andrade el Idolo’s music hit next. He came down to the ring to square off against Escobar for a shot at Knight’s championship belt.

Roman Reigns returns to SmackDown

Following the main event, Solo Sikoa addressed the crowd and challenged Roman Reigns to a match. Sikoa said that he was the Tribal Chief now and Reigns would now have to earn his position back in The Bloodline. This led to the ex-Undisputed Champion arriving at ringside and sending Loa crashing into the steel steps. Reigns then turned his eyes on Sikoa. However, Reigns got blindsided by Loa and Tonga. Reigns then landed two spears and started hitting Loa with the steel chair. Sikoa watched on as he placed the lei across his chest.

A-Town Down Under vs Street Profits in a WWE Tag Team Championship Number 1 Contender’s Tournament Match – Street Profits win the match by pinfall after landing the Blockbuster Doomsday Device on Austin Theory.

Alba Fyre vs Jade Cargill – Jade Cargill won the match using the Jaded.

Andrade el Idolo vs Santos Escobar for the WWE United States Championship Number 1 Contender’s Match – Escobar locks in a schoolboy pin while holding the tights to become the number one contender for the US title.

DIY vs Pretty Deadly for the WWE Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Tournament Match – DIY win the match by pinfall using the Meet in the Middle on Elton Prince.
