After competing in various events across the globe, India’s javelin star, Neeraj Chopra now longs for an international competition to take place in India.

After winning a silver medal during the Paris Olympics 2024, India’s javelin star, Neeraj Chopra now wishes that he can compete with the best of athletes in an international competition that takes place in India.

Neeraj has been actively participating in various competitions, before the Olympics like the Diamond League 2023 in Doha to the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China as well as many others all around the globe.

However, he has yet to take part in an international competition that is being held in India. Neeraj after bagging medals in both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 now longs to perform in front of his home crowd in India.

“It’s a dream of mine to compete with other international stars in India. Hopefully, there will be an international competition soon in India and I can do that,” Chopra said during an interactive session with fans organised by Olympics.com

However, he hopes to rest and recuperate ahead of the new season where he wishes to make some technical improvements so that he can get a much better outcome as a result of his powerful throws.

“I am entering a new season now. So, I don’t have that much time to change training methods or techniques. But I hope to improve on a couple of areas, especially the line of the javelin,” Chopra commented on the areas he’d like to improve.

“You know, the correct angle of throwing so that I get more power in my throw. I will certainly work on it,” he added.

The Tokyo 2020 gold medalist was eager to deliver his best performance despite being weighed down by his physical condition. Despite his physical concerns, Chopra still managed to hit his season-best throw of 89.45.

“The body conditions (of his) were tough. But when Arshad made that throw…I hit my season’s best because the thought was set in my mind that I had to give the best throw and the competition had already become very tough,” Chopra credited his rival Arshad Nadeem who broke the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97.

Chopra might not have been at his best form as he only registered the singular throw while the rest of them were deemed as foul throws as he overstepped the throwing line.

Nevertheless, Chopra now finds himself in an exclusive list of Indian athletes who have won multiple medals for the nation at the quadrennial event and certainly looks like he has a lot more left in the tank.
