Lady Gaga along with many other celebrities joined the crowd at the Bercy Arena on Sunday to watch Team USA’s qualifying round.
After missing out on the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, America’s Simone Biles made a radiant return this year, giving the US gymnasts a lead in the qualifying round. While her performance drew loud cheers and applause from the crowd, it also impressed pop icon Lady Gaga, who was present at Bercy Arena on Sunday, July 28. Gaga not only witnessed her almost flawless balance beam performance at the Paris Olympics but also shared her video on Instagram, feeling all “honoured.”
Lady Gaga was among the star-studded audience members who were present to witness the women’s gymnastics qualifying round. Penning a special message for Biles, she wrote, “She nailed it. What an honor to be so close!!!!”
Later, Gaga also shared words of praise for Team USA’s gymnasts on her Instagram story and noted, “Unimaginable strength and talent. Will never forget today. I’m so grateful to be so close and witness these incredible women!”
It is pertinent to note that Biles, one of the most decorated gymnasts, returned for her third Olympics this year after she shockingly pulled out from the finals at the Tokyo Games due to “twisties.” She had also withdrawn from the all-round and other apparatus finals, leaving everyone worried about her future in the Olympic arena. However, after a long hiatus, she not only made a glorious return but dominated in the qualifying round with a score of 59.566. With her brilliance, the US has now qualified with ease, standing far ahead of Italy.
Star-Studded Crowd Cheer For Simone Biles
Besides the Grammy and Oscar-winning singer, the crowd also had other global stars, including Ariana Grande with her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo, Tom Cruise, Anna Wintour, Snoop Dogg, Shaun White, Jessica Chastain, Nick Jonas and gymnastics legend Nadia Comaneci. The celebrities were all attentive as they watched her closely.
Notably, the Paris Olympics 2024 had an outstanding start this year, with several stars marking their presence in the opening ceremony. While Lady Gaga and Celine Dion gave opening performances, decorated luminaries like Serena Williams, Zinedine Zidane and Emmanuel Macron descended on the French capital.
It seems like this is just the start of the many celebrity cameos expected at the coveted event in Paris.
