The world’s smallest airport, Hacaritama Airport, is located in Aguachica, Colombia. This airport features a waiting area under a tree, lacks scanning machines, and requires passengers to stand in the sun.

Travel influencer Rosy Palma, known online as @travelercolombia, posted a video on social media of her experience travelling through Hacaritama Airport. Palma went viral for sharing her journey through one of the world’s smallest airports.

According to reports, Hacaritama Airport is famous globally for its small and eco-friendly space. Palma’s video reveals that there are only two waiting areas, one for arrival and another for manual luggage check-in.

The video starts with Palma approaching a tree providing shade to a row of seats. The airport issues a ticket for baggage claim at your destination. While waiting, passengers use the shaded area under the mango tree.

Palma shows how she handed her luggage and narrates how other passengers wait to be called to enter the second waiting room. On the other side is the runway. The late-arriving passengers queue up in the sun. This is the second lounge you enter when preparing to board.

The area also features a table with Colombian pastries and snacks available for purchase. Palma further explains that before boarding, officials conduct a manual check of the cabin luggage. There is only one toilet for everyone working and traveling through the airport, which the influencer describes as spacious and clean.

The planes at Hacaritama Airport carry only 48 passengers. In her video, Palma also shares that boarding requires arriving early. Despite their small size, the plane seats are very comfortable.

After touring the smallest airport, Palma praised the experience, noting that the airport’s beauty lies in its simplicity.

The video has garnered thousands of likes and comments. One user wrote, “You’re right, it’s the coolest airport in the world. The simple things are the most beautiful.” Another said, “And the best thing is that the mangoes are free.”
